Ten of my Most Favoritest Songs, and whyÂ
1. Dixie Chicks, “Easy Silence.” I get that with Hot Joe. He takes away the noise.Â
Easy silence that you make for me, it’s okay when there’s nothing more to say to me ,and the peaceful quiet you create for me, and the way you keep the world at bay for me, the way you keep the world at bay.
2. Aaron Tippin, “I can Help.” When Hot Joe played the following lyrics to me he had tears in my eyes. How could I not be his entirely?
You know how I feel about you, if I can do anything at all let me help, if your child needs a daddy, I can help. It would sure do me good to do you good. Let me help.
3.   Faith Hill, “Wish for you” This my favorite part of the song, because she sums it up so well.
First love with all its storm raging like fire within, tossing your heart to chance, you swear the dance will never end. But then it does and someone says goodbye, and after all those empty nights you cried. The morning that you wake up good as new, that’s the kind of day I wish for you.
4. Pink, “Conversations With my 13-year-old Self,” telling her it won’t always suck.
Come over here and let me hold your hand and hug you darling, I promise you that it won’t always feel this bad. There are so many things I want to say to you. You’re the girl I used to be, you little heartbroken thirteen year old me
5. Christina Aguilera, “Beautiful”
I am beautiful no matter what they say, words can’t bring me down. I am beautiful in every single way, yes, words can’t bring me down, oh no so don’t you bring me down today.
6. Shania Twain with Bryan White, “From This Moment” When Noah and I first became just us we started singing this together, he the male part and I the female. He was five. We sang it for my parents once and I couldn’t help but cry, looking into his sweet little innocent face and the song had completely new meaning for me. There is no official video, but there is video of a live performance.
From this moment as long as I live I will love you, I promise you this, There is nothing I wouldn’t give, From this moment on.
7. Josh Groban, “You raise me up” This man has the most beautiful voice in the world. He made his debut at the age of 17 on “Ali McBeal” and sounded then like he does now.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains; You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas; I am strong, when I am on your shoulders; You raise me up… To more than I can be.
8. Lady GaGa, “Born This Way” because we need to accept ourselves as we are.
No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I’m on the right track baby, I was born to survive. No matter black, white or beige, Chola or orient made, I’m on the right track baby, I was born to be brave.
9. Alanis Morissette, “Head Over Feet” I really wanted to share all of the lyrics of this song because the entire song is so awesome, but I’ll just share the chorus.
You’ve already won me over in spite of me, and don’t be alarmed if I fall head over feet, don’t be surprised if I love you for all that you are I couldn’t help it, it’s all your fault.
10. Dave Matthews, “You & Me” We can do anything.Â
When the kids are old enough we’re gonna teach them to fly
You and me together, we could do anything, baby. You and me together yes, yes.

Like that you added the lyrics to your songs, great spin on the prompt this week.
Thank you so much!!!
I feel inspired and just plan good after reading your list. Nicely done! Ellen
Thanks Ellen!
Great list, great songs. Love how you picked the specific lyrics… they play such an important part, don’t they?
They really do. Very important.
I always liked Faith Hill, I almost included This Kiss, it’s such a fun song!
I do to, and YES, that is a fun song. So is Dearly Beloved. That’s just funny.
From this moment is really one of the sweetest songs ever. I love it.
I know, me too. It was Beth’s wedding song, but I love it for different reasons.
We have such different musical taste…
But ‘Head over Feet’? Love it. In fact, it’s one of the first songs I ever sang to my husband, and it’s officially “our song”.
REALLY? Awesome. I imagine we are the same in life as Alanis describes it in that song.
You obviously have a romantic soul based on your list. Well done!
Yeah, I just figured that out. And romance comes in so many flavors.
Such a romantic list! I liked that you added the song quotes in, very nice touch!
It is a romantic list isn’t it? I guess that just tells you where I am in my life. I’m glad you liked the quotes. I had to show why I thought each song was so awesome.
I love your explanations – and I forgot that I really love Head Over Feet. I’m enjoying the reminders of songs I may have forgotten about as I go through these Listicles posts!
Me too. I keep thinking, Yes! There’s another one!
Oh I just love all of these songs on this list! I’m a big fan of Josh Groban and DMB too!
I’m glad you enjoyed my choices! DMB is on my walk/run playlist right now. He’s awesome.
I’m glad ‘why’ was included in the list. Reading the specific lyrics was touching, Kim. I can see why each song on you list is ON your list. I had chills when I read the first one, because I love when that song plays during my walks. For the same reasons you gave, Easy Silence is on my list, as is Alanis Morissette’s song. I heart her and I heart her lyrics. The lyrics you pulled from her are my top favorite.
Oh yes…Josh Groban’s You Raise Me Up! That’s one of those that covers me with goosies!
Me too. It always has.
I was scrolling through your list and just nodding my head! Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep and yep!
Hahaha! Then my work here is done.
Great list of songs you have here. I love DMB & Josh Groben! They are both amazing singer/songwriters. Isn’t it easy to write your life in songs? This was fun!
It was fun!! I love Listicles.
Our wedding song.. FROM THIS MOMENT ON !! aaawww
I know. I thought about that. It can be interpreted for a husband and wife or for a mom and her child, newly just the two of them.
I had forgotten about Beautiful. That song is amazing in every way. And you are right about Josh Groban. I could listen to him for hours. Great songs.
Thanks Jamie. I feel like every teenage girl needs to listen to the Pink song and Beautiful. And Lady Gaga’s “Born This way” actually.
You and I are music soul mates! Love them all except I’ve never heard the Pink song My 13 Year Old Self. I’ll listen now; sounds like it will be a new fav of mine. Absolutely amazing list!
Thank you. I thought ALL WEEK about what songs I wanted. This was really deep for me because I wanted a reason for including it. I hope you’ve listened to Pink’s song now. She’s awesomesauce.
First and last one- swwoooon!! Love how you listed the reasons. I love listening to the lyrics, sometimes are don’t care much for the tune but the words will make me like the song anyway!
Yes!! Lyrics can make a song all that much better. And good MUSIC, can make a crappy singer (say…BRITNEY SPEARS) still enjoyable when you need to be pumped up to run.
Easy Silence is one of my ALL TIME favorite songs! The rest are pretty awesome too!
Me too Audrey. I LOVE Easy Silence. It just means so much to someone like me, whose brain never stops going.
Thanks for including the lyrics–that really helps understand why these songs are meaningful for you!
Dixie Chicks, Pink, and Lady Gaga are on my list too!
I wasn’t going to include any videos; just the lyrics. Then I realized that I really loved a few, so I did. I’m glad you liked that idea.
Just had to check out the Josh Groban video since I had no idea who this guy was until now. I love the video – it’s like a circus with this kid singing throughout it. Woman, even your music list reflects ADHD!
Oh my gosh…you’re right!!! Dammit. I’m talking to my psychiatrist about this Friday. I need Adderrall to go with my Lithium and my Lexapro and my Klonopin.
What a fabulously fantastic list! I just love that you and your son sang “From this Moment” together. That is just amazing. I also adore “You Raise Me Up” and “You & Me.”
Thank you thank you!!!
I’m a huge Josh Groban fan and that is one of my favourites (even though it’s not on my list). Ran out of room.
Great list!
Thank you Diane!
I like a bunch of these songs too! I like how you explained why you liked them, and put in a sample of meaningful lyrics. Great list!
Groban does have a great voice. And I love Dave Matthew’s voice. It always calms me down.
Nice touch on the lyrics! Dave Matthews is one of my favorites!
