Weekly Update and Runstreak

Oct 06

Sunday

Listening to, The Pain Nurse, an audio book (finished today!)

LUKE DID NOT POOP.  I could probably just end the update here, don’t you think?  I won’t, though.  Instead I will tell you two things.  Firstly, I was once again attacked by a swarm of gnats.  They attempted to get into my ears, nose, mouth, and hair and touched every surface of my upper body.  They’re only there later on in the evening, I think, so…Secondly, I was crossing a street from corner to corner, which probably takes I don’t know 10 seconds?  Six?  Twenty?  Probably not that long.  Either way, Gramma “Wish I had hair” came driving down the street in her yellow-tan Camry with her matching yellow-tan teased up hair and decided she wanted to turn the very second I stepped my foot off of the curb, and she wasn’t even within turning distance.  She wasn’t driving fast because she knows when you’re 175 and almost blind you really need to drive slower, but she was driving insistently.  With each step forward she continued forward.  If I stopped randomly or passed out from lightheadedness or tripped and landed on my face I would have been simply rolled right over.  It was a bit shocking, this dying woman’s defiance.  As I’m sure you know I held my ground and kept up the street, spitting out gnats all while holding direct eye contact with her, keeping a very stern, “Really?  Is this what you want to do?” expression on my face.  I’m so proud of us.

Enough said.

Tuesday

Okay so it’s hot again this evening and really that’s no excuse because I’ve run in this weather before so the truth is I’m lazy.  The end.

Wednesday

Listening to:  Alanis Morissette, Jagged Little Pill

I ran the long route today.  The weather was so beautiful.  It was cool, and there was a breeze and it even smelled good.  I ran and ran and doubled my hill.  I did come upon the older lady with her 2 shih tzu pups so I popped into the street to prepare, and do you know what she did?   She moved both of her dogs to her left side, closer to me, in case I wanted our babies to meet.  Seriously?  I was running, half my tank was dark with sweat, my arms were pumping and I was breathing hard.  Both times I’ve run into her I’ve pulled away from her and kept my dogs away from her.  Now I had to switch them to my right side, behind my back, and keep running with this new configuration, shaking my head at her the whole time.  The cool thing is, after I passed her and got the pups back to where they needed to be I glanced to my right and there was Peter pushing Kai with Stephanie running right behind them.  They are our beautiful friends who we are blessed to live two doors away from.  It felt kinda cool running along side them, because I’d been running for a while – much longer than them because they came from the side street – and I was running and talking with them.  Awesomesauce.

Thursday

Listening to:  Various artists, songs in alphabetical order

Good run today.  I did the full route, which I love.  Nobody got in my way, the weather was beautiful and I wasn’t dying.  I did, however, learn two things today about driving on the wrong side of the street:

1.  It’s okay if you’re doing it because you’re fixing your hair.  You need to hands to fix your hair and not everybody is able to steer with their knee like me.

2.  If I am in the street with the pups because the sweet elderly couple is on the sidewalk headed towards me and we are about to meet at a fire hydrant and there’s no possible way we can all fit, I am guaranteed to have the leases choked up so the pups are as close to me as possible out of fear that someone will drive too close and take them out.  That being said, if you see me close to the curb, pups close to me, go ahead drive on the other side of the street anyway.  The far other side of the street.  In fact, drive so far over that you hug the sidewalk because that just adds to the dramatic effect you are obviously going for.  You aren’t an ass at all.

Friday

Listening to:  P!nk, The Truth About Love

Got the streak over this morning, left at 10:00 a.m. I kinda had to make it quick because I had lunch plans with Beth and Mom at the Old Folks Home. I just didn’t do the hill twice is all. Other than that it was a really, really good streak. My time was great, it felt good, the weather was perfect, the pups behaved, the music was pumping and I had the streets to myself. Yay!!

Saturday

No running today.  We have PLANS.
