Weekly Update With Runstreak
Sep 15
MONDAY
Listening to: Dave Matthews Band
I’ve mentioned before how much I resent the lizards that are constantly jumping out of the bushes right before we get to them, causing Allie to lose it and want to attack and eat said lizards. Well guess what? Today I got my comeuppance when I missed squishing one by a millimeter. Granted, I noticed it at the very last second and had to look like I was doing some kind of crazy dance move the way I jumped out of the way but kept running. Hot Joe says I should have squished him and the thought of that gives me the heebie-jeebies. Can you imagine what that would feel like? Ick.
TUESDAY
Listening to: Dave Matthews Band
Today was a little odd. I turned the corner to go up the hill (I’m going the reverse route right now), and as I started out a Honda CRV passed me and pulled over up ahead, in the “No Stopping at any Time” section of the street. As we passed him, I (of course) glanced into his car and he seemed to be cleaning his glasses, which is strange because why does it take so long to do that? Whatever, I kept heading up the hill, fleetingly wondering how he would respond if he was still there when I got to the top and started running back down. Sure enough, I got about halfway down the hill when he pulled away from the curb and headed up the hill. Again I briefly wondered if he pulled over behind me and how funny it would be when he saw me headed back up. We got to the bottom of the hill and turned around but couldn’t see him initially. Once we got past a certain point, sure enough there he was at the top, pulled over again. It took him a minute to see us apparently, but when he did he finally pulled away and turned at the corner. Lucky for him he turned left because had he turned right and pulled over again he may have lost his mind seeing us come around the corner.
WEDNESDAY
After today’s events running wasn’t happening.
THURSDAY
Listening to: The Pain Nurse, an audio book
Today was the first time I tried listening to a book instead of music while I streaked, in the hopes of quieting my mind. When I’m listening to music it can play in the background while my mind keeps thinking, and I needed to find a way to quiet my mind. I think it needs to be quiet for exercise. I enjoyed it. I would enjoy it more if it was a better book, but my local library doesn’t have a big selection. If this continues to be something I enjoy I’ll look into springing for a purchase. Quick anecdote: I was headed home, past the senior citizen mobile home park, when a young girl on her Motorola flip phone was pulling out. She saw me. No doubt about it. We made eye contact. She thought she’d get the chance to pull out before I got there (I wasn’t far and I was running) so she pulled half into the street. I could see the panic in her face when she realized I had to either run around the back of her or into the street but she refused to put the damn phone down and think about her options so I uncharacteristically went behind her car. However, I threw out a few choice words while I ran. I have no idea if she heard them, but my Achilles was hurting and I can’t complain because my kid is in a cast and I was almost home and it felt good to say them.
FRIDAY
Went to my doctor today, ran some errands and then got ready for a party. It was hot, I figured I’d run Saturday, so I didn’t go.
SATURDAY
I took the new pill my psychiatrist prescribed yesterday and I was fuzzy and slept on and off the entire day. It’s 8:51 as I type this and I still feel groggy. I’m not taking it tonight because I work in the morning but I don’t work Monday so I’m going to try earlier tomorrow and see how things go. Needless to say I did not run. Had my first solo Scentsy party this evening. It went well and only 2 people didn’t buy (one says she will and the other was the hostess), but there were only a few people there; seven didn’t show. The hostess seems to think more will buy online…I only sold $134 but that’s okay. I have two more parties lined up and one more tentative party so…either way I think I did a really good job. I would like to have more inventory to display and different ways to display it but I was able to be excited about and show everything so I feel it was successful!!!

Congrats on your first solo party! Baby steps. That’s what I say to my oldest sister all the time, when she was recovering from depression, suicidal thoughts, and codeine addiction. *sigh*
The driver pulling over and stopping would have freaked me out. I immediately thought he was up to no good and looking for someone to hurt. I live in a happy place, don’t I?
Here’s to next week’s update! #Runstreak
Hahaha! I was admittedly a bit nervous but Allie IS part pit bull, so…
How was running to the audio book?
Jamie Walker (Chosen Chaos) recommended it. I LOVE IT. When you’re listening to a BOOK you can’t focus on anything else. You can’t worry, you aren’t singing along, you’re just running and you don’t notice the pain or that you can’t breath or that you probably look funny. RECOMMEND.
Congrats on making mulah on your Scentsy party – anything over a hundred bucks is a great sale. And running is always more exciting when you get to yell “choice” words. If she didn’t hear you, I hope the person on the other end of the cell phone did.
Next time I’m kicking her tires too. And Nami – I LOVE THIS SCENTSY GIG.
