When Kids Become Their Moms

This post has been inspired by Bridget from Twinisms, who earlier today wrote the funniest, sweetest most precious post about one of her 5-year-old twins and his take on getting a girlfriend. You may or may not know that I work from home, starting at 5 a.m. This summer, Noah was waking up at about 10 a.m. and he’d come straight up to my office wearing a pair of boxer briefs and socks and nothing else, for a good morning kiss and hug. After a couple of weeks of being poked in the ribs I finally said to him, “I’m gonna need you wait a few minutes after you wake up before you come kiss me and hug me in order to give all this a chance to simmer down.” I held my hand up palm facing him and waved it in a circle around the pokey area. He completely grasped what I was saying and I was never poked again.
This morning I walked into the bathroom where Noah was preparing his hair for picture day. He glanced at me and turned back to the mirror, stating, “YOU’RE cold.” I looked down before responding, “Actually, all of my sports bras are in the wash.” Noah, in pure me-ness, answered, “Yeah, well I’m gonna need you to wait a few minutes before coming to see me when you don’t have a sports bra on.”
Touché my sweet.

Ahahahaha! This made me laugh – again! I love it!
This is awesome. Just love how you phrased it “simmer down.” Love the dynamic the two of you share. Hopefully, I get that with my sons as they get older
Brilliant!! Love that you documented this moment (or two). THESE are the stories to remember. Love, love, love it!
Bahahahaha that’s hilarious!!!! Love it!
Ok, now this was funny and a good laugh to start my morning. Oh the things I get to look forward too.
Hahahaha. I have sooo much to look forward to.
Ever notice how Jennifer Aniston’s nipples are ALWAYS erect? You’d think she’d have somebody to do her wash so she’s never out of sports bras, y’know?
Das ah one smart boy, uh – your Noah.
I did notice that about Jennifer! Maybe we’re related. And as for Noah – you know for every awesome thing I share about there’s something more awesome I can’t.
